As a short departure from my usual stories, I will be putting up reviews of kids’ books that I think are entertaining for adults and kids as well as educational. If you’re not interested or don’t have kids, don’t worry, I will be back to my typical posts next time. But for those with your own kids or have kids in your family, I think you will find these books very entertaining.
FYI-I didn’t receive any compensation for this book review. I personally stumbled upon this book and think that it is something parents as well as kids will find entertaining as well as being educational.
At the Musée du Louvre kids’ book shop I found a good companion to My Little Louvre, My Little d’Orsay from Marie Sellier. It tackles Paris’ other popular museum, the Musée d’Orsay. The reason I like this book is because it makes me laugh, which I like in a kids’ book, so it’s not tedious for adults to read to kids. If you are looking to introduce your kids to the wonderful world of Impressionist art from the most famous museum for impressionism, then this book is great and goes through the collection, making it accessible for kids approximately ages 5-8.
One excerpt from the book: It describes Édouard Vuillard’s 1891 painting In Bed for kids, “there is a sleepyhead. It’s morning but I don’t want to get up.”
The book is full of colorful pictures of art that kids will find interesting from the museum. If you plan on going to the Musée d’Orsay with kids, this book would be great to get and bring along and use for a scavenger hunt. If you are not going to the Musée d’Orsay anytime soon, then look for a similar style book (with pictures and kid friendly descriptions of the work) to take with your kids to a museum by you.
