A Parade of Sheep in Times Square
March 12, 2011 A*RT!? Happens
In case you missed it- this flock of paper sheep paraded in for only the week (March 1-7) as part of New York’s Armory Art Fair. Created by artist, Kyu Seok Oh, they’re ironically called “Counting Sheep” and placed in insomniac Times Square.
Being above freezing last week brought people out of their winter bunkers to walk around the sculpture garden street. This was my favorite, “Geologies, Cosmologies, Apologies # 1″ by David Kennedy Cutler.
Among the other pieces turning Times Square into an art show was this bubbly piece that lights up red at night- “The Uros House” by Grimanesa Amoros.
The most boring sculpture award goes to this mosaic sculpture, “Star Fountain” by Niki de Saint Phalle.
And the crowd favorite was “Mouse” by Tom Otterness. There was a line of people waiting to get their picture with this famous mouse.

One of the things I enjoy most about city-scapes are the temporary fairs, art exhibits, and street happenings in general. Thanks for this glimpse of city life.

me too. The food fairs in NYC are especially great because of the blend of cultures and their food. I always find great food I never knew I could get in the US!
